Step 3: Evaluate Options

A picture of the 4-step consultation process, showing we are at step 3a

The early stages of Step 3 of the Solid Waste Management Plan built on the goals and guiding principles established in Step 2 and explored ways to reduce waste by improving access and convenience to solid waste services around the region.

In 2024, we listened to residents in communities from Fanny Bay to Zeballos and west to Sayward and Cortes Island speak about their unique challenges with solid waste management. We also offered public tours of the landfill and the organics facility to explore ways we can achieve our priority of increasing diversion.
