Phase 1 of Zoning Bylaw review now complete - Phase 2 begins in April

As part of the "housekeeping" phase 1 review of the Courtenay Zoning Bylaw, Council adopted Zoning Bylaw No. 3203, 2026 at the March 27, 2026, special Council meeting. Next Development Industry Meetup on June 30, 2026

The City of Courtenay will host the next Development Industry Meetup on June 30, 2026.

Date: Tuesday, June 30, 2026
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Lower Native Sons Hall

Agenda:

• Summary of what we heard – Staff will provide an update on how we are dealing with the comments we received at the Zoning Bylaw Round Table event on April 14th, 2026.
• Transportation Strategy Plan Update (Presentation by Matt Brown, Manager of Transportation Services).
• Professional Reliance Model (Presentation by Rob Dickinson) – Staff will address why ensuring your engineers are diligent on their design and inspections will save you money in the long term.
• Meet the New Director of Development Services – Jake Belobaba will be in attendance to introduce himself and take a short Q&A.

This meeting is an opportunity to stay informed, share feedback, and connect with others in our community. We hope you can join us.

We are not planning any additional developers’ lunches over the summer. We will reconnect in the fall.
