Our Facility Tours are the Hottest Ticket in Town!

18 September 2024

On Saturday, September 14, 136 people ventured to the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre to get a behind-the-scenes look at how the landfill functions, including the wastewater treatment process, landfill gas capture, and information on the site's over 20 recycling programs.

A guided bus tour took participants around the site, dropping them off at an interactive educational display at the top of the old Pidgeon Lake Landfill. The rain even held off, allowing visitors to leisurely walk around, speak to experts, and win various prizes along the way. If you have not yet taken advantage of one of these tours, which are offered annually, it is highly recommended!

Next up on the itinerary of Comox Strathcona Waste Management facility tours is the Regional Composting Facility in Campbell River on Saturday, September 21. This inaugural SOLD OUT event is bound to be a fan favourite! Don’t be afraid to be an early bird next time when it comes to pre-registering. Please note that finished compost sales are available year-round for $15/yard. Confirm availability by simply calling ahead: 250.334.6000.
