Attend a CSWM Community Open House and Enter to Win Free Compost!

3 July 2024

Staff from Comox Strathcona Waste Management [CSWM] will be hitting the road during July to host five open house events in rural communities from Fanny Bay up to Oyster River kicking off Step 3 of the solid waste management plan consultation process.

Learn more about the various aspects of the current solid waste management system, the goals and priorities established during Step 2, and what some strategies to propel the region towards achieving these goals and waste diversion targets can look like. This is an open forum to gather information, get involved and to provide input.

Each of these five open house events is also working to promote the circular economy! We have free compost giveaways and are providing an opportunity for you to turn your trash into someone else’s treasure with a ‘Junk in the Trunk’ swap.

Each event runs from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Staff will be on hand to hear directly from residents on their ideas for waste diversion. No registration is required.

Winners will be contacted by phone.

'Junk in Your Trunk' Swap

Your junk is someone else’s treasure! Bring along some unwanted items from home in usable and good condition, pop your trunk or place items on top or beside your vehicle and peruse the parking lot before before heading inside. Items placed out are free to take. Recirculating items before recycling or disposal is a great way to participate in the circular economy. You may be encouraged to host a swap of your own this summer!
