Bringing critical wastewater management services to Royston, Kilmarnock, and Union Bay

The proposed Sewer Extension South Project envisions moving wastewater from homes and businesses in Royston, Kimarnock, Union Bay, and the K’ómoks First Nation Southlands through a new regional sewer pipe.

The original project scope included Union Bay Estates (UBE) as a significant funding partner. As UBE is unable to commit to its share of funding at this time, additional grant funding is being sought to cover the funding shortfall. CVRD and K’ómoks First Nation are working together to review alternate project phasing and scope options that could meet the available budget, which includes a $30M grant through the provincial Critical Community Infrastructure Fund. CVRD staff are also engaging with the province on next steps for the Liquid Waste Management Plan.
