At their Nov. 4, 2024 meeting, Village Council reviewed proposed recommendations for updates to the OCP.

The recommendations include:

• creation of an urban containment boundary for future residential growth to avoid urban sprawl
• creation of a new mixed-use civic facility land use designation to permit future redevelopment of municipal facilities with a residential component
• creation of a new service commercial area along Cumberland and Union roads for retail and businesses that require loading and storage areas that cannot be accommodated in the commercial area on Dunsmuir Ave
• more flexible setbacks for new buildings in the Heritage Conservation Area on Dunsmuir Ave to enable outdoor public seating areas
• policy to include a rental tenure component on pre-zoned multi-family lands
• updates to the Active Transportation, Conservation and Parks and Trails map to include areas identified by the community during phase 1 and 2 engagement
