We are pleased to share that the “What We Heard” Report is now available on the project page. This summary reflects the ideas, concerns, and priorities shared by residents, businesses, and community partners during our recent round of public engagement.

What is included in the link:

• A staff report: Presented to Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) elected officials on July 14, 2025. It explains the feedback received and how it will inform the next steps.
• The “What We Heard” Report: A summary of all input received.

Who we heard from:

• 358 people through a community survey
• Over 100 people at an open house
• 13 residents’ association members
• 22 representatives from the business, tourism, and development sectors

Fall 2025 update:

The project timeline has been extended so the CVRD can complete additional technical studies. Feedback from the first round of community engagement showed that several priorities, questions, and concerns require more detailed exploration before a draft Local Area Plan can be prepared. These studies will provide the foundation needed to develop a plan that reflects the community’s vision.

Once the studies are underway, the Engage Comox Valley page will be updated with a revised timeline. The CVRD will return to the community in 2026 to share the study findings and explain how they will guide the draft plan.

What is next:

Your input continues to shape the direction of the project. The technical studies and additional exploration will inform draft land use concepts and policy directions. These materials will be shared with the community once they are ready, along with opportunities to review and comment.

How to get involved:

When the draft materials are prepared, you will be invited to participate through:

• A community open house
• An online survey
• Additional meetings if needed (for example, with business, tourism, or development representatives)

Your feedback will directly influence the development of the draft Local Area Plan.
