Saratoga Beach Local Area Plan Update: What We Heard Report Now Available and Next Steps

16 July 2025

Thank you for following the Saratoga Beach Local Area Plan on Engage Comox Valley.

We are pleased to share that the “What We Heard” Report is now available on the project page. This summary reflects the ideas, concerns, and priorities shared by residents, businesses, and community partners during our recent round of public engagement.

What We Heard Report

What is included in the link:

  • A staff report: Presented to Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) elected officials on July 14, 2025. It explains the feedback received and how it will inform the next steps.
  • The “What We Heard” Report: A summary of all input received.

Who we heard from:

  • 358 people through a community survey
  • Over 100 people at an open house
  • 13 residents’ association members
  • 22 representatives from the business, tourism, and development sectors

What is next:

Your input is helping us shape draft ideas for how the Saratoga Beach community could grow and evolve in the future. We are exploring a range of growth scenarios, including a low-growth option, to reflect different perspectives and values in the community.

These draft concepts will include draft policy directions. We will share them this fall and ask for your feedback.

How to get involved this fall:

You will be invited to:

  • A community open house (planned for October)
  • An online survey
  • If applicable, a focus group with business, tourism, and development representatives

Your feedback from now and in the fall will help shape the final plan.

In the meantime:

  • Stay informed: Updates will be posted on Engage Comox Valley, and we will email you when new information is available.
  • Spread the word: Please share this message with your neighbours and others in the community.
  • Have questions? Email Brian Chow at bchow@comoxvalleyrd.ca. For property-specific inquiries, contact planningdevelopment@comoxvalleyrd.ca.

Thank you again for being part of this important project. We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and look forward to reconnecting in the fall.
