Project Overview

Just one block from Dunsmuir Avenue, Penrith Avenue is a key route for people walking, biking, rolling, and driving in our community. We’re upgrading this section to enhance safety, improve accessibility, and ensure it meets both current and future community needs.

What We’re Proposing

In addition to surface improvements, we’ll be upgrading underground utilities to enhance service reliability and reduce maintenance needs. The existing infrastructure is aging and requires renewal to support long-term community growth.

Why This Upgrade Matters

  • Key connection near downtown
    • Penrith Avenue is a vital link steps from the village centre.
  • Better access to local destinations
    • Enhances connections to nearby businesses and community services.
  • Smarter parking
    • Adds more parking through better organization and formalization to meet growing demand.
  • Wider, safer sidewalks
    • Designed for people of all ages and abilities to walk comfortably and confidently.
  • Seamless mobility
    • Ensures continuous sidewalk connections for walking and wheeling (e.g., wheelchairs, scooters, strollers).
  • Accessibility for everyone
    • Includes modern curb let-downs that meet Canadian accessibility standards, including features for people who are blind or have low vision.
  • Ready for the future
    • Supports more efficient waste collection and Village operations.
