The Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) service is pleased to reassure residents that there are currently no plans to relocate the Oyster River Recycling Depot, located at 2185 Regent Road.
For neighboring residents from both sides of the Oyster River, those from the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) and from the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), 2185 Regent Road has strong roots to the community. The regional district has provided services to the community from this property for nearly five decades. It originally served as the Oyster River Fire Hall from 1976 and since 2002 as the Oyster River Recycling Depot, continuing to offer essential services to residents of both the CVRD and the SRD.
Every single day those bins get emptied and we know how quickly they can fill up again, you are a dedicated bunch of recyclers!
The CSWM is working towards purchasing this property and making an investment in our commitment to increase access to waste diversion opportunities for residents in rural areas. We are not able to provide fixed timelines on when work may begin to transform this property, but please be assured that the location will continue to be available for recycling through this process.
As we work to provide a long-term solution to the community’s growing needs, ensuring a secured, well-managed, and sustainable site, residents can share their thoughts, ask questions, and look to this project page for any updates that may continue to come up regarding the future of this facility.
