What Happens Next?
CVRD parks staff will now work on putting some of the above feedback and suggestions into action. We will begin with putting together a plan to open more beach accesses and seek approval of the Province for improvements. This plan will include contacting the nearby property owners and working with them to address concerns around increased public use of the accesses. We will begin with Spindrift and Kalmar accesses. We will also plan to complete a biophysical report on Montrose Park. Items that may require substantial funds such as playground equipment or extensive planning such as a parking area at Argyle or a boardwalk trail at Montrose will be considered amongst other park priorities as staff develop work plans and budgets for 2024. Staff typically present the budget plan for discussion with the electoral area directors in January. Updates will be posted to the CVRD website. Questions or suggestions can be directed to communityservices@comoxvalleyrd.ca at anytime. Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts and ideas for park facilities for the Craigdarroch neighbourhood.
There is definitely interest amongst several households for park amenities. The level of interest may not be enough however to support a significant investment of resources when considered amongst other all other items on the wishlist for the parks system.
Should a new park be developed in the neighbourhood it appears residents would like to see at least a small playground with some trails, benches, tables and a covered area. There appears to be an interest in having a meeting point or community hub for the neigbourhood as well as more locations to access the beach and enjoy the waterfront.
