Upcoming Traffic Management Changes on Comox Road

Beginning the week of August 25, the construction zone will once again be near the western border of K’ómoks First Nation (MAP 1). Two-way traffic is possible on Comox Road up to the construction zone.

From August 25 to 29, to access K’ómoks First Nation as well as residents and businesses on Bayside Road, from the 17th Street bridge:

  • Day, 7 am to 5 pm, turn left and use the official detour route: One-way westbound traffic through construction zone. Two-way traffic possible from Queneesh Road to Bayside Road.
  • Night, 5 pm to 7 am, turn right: Two-way traffic possible up to and including Bayside Road.

From September 2 to 14, two-way traffic from the 17th Street bridge will be restored to Comox Road, up to Bayside Road (MAP 2).

From September 15 to 19, the construction zone on Comox Road will be moving to the western section of the road and the one-way section will be returning to near the 17th Street bridge (MAP 3).

  • Right-hand turns will not be possible from the 17th Street bridge.
  • From the 17th Street bridge, all traffic for Comox Road will be required to take the official detour route.

Bikes and Pedestrians

Two-way bike and pedestrian traffic will be possible through all the construction zones 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Looking Ahead

We are happy to be able to share that the end of project impacts for Comox Road are in sight. We estimate that from September 20 to the end of October two-way traffic from the 17th Street bridge to Bayside Road will be possible.
