Project Update: Beaufort Avenue, Jane Place to Ellis Street

23 January 2025

Work on the sewer forcemain on Beaufort Avenue, Jane Place to Ellis Street, is almost complete. We estimate that by February, construction for the sewer forcemain will reach Ellis Street continuing moving west towards Rodello Street. We would like to thank the community for their support and patience during this first phase of construction.

Estimated Work Schedule: Beaufort Avenue (Jane Place – Ellis Street)

The next phase of construction will be the Town of Comox infrastructure upgrades. In early February, work will begin on removing existing infrastructure, such as sidewalks and curbs. This work will be followed by the installation of any new infrastructure, like catch basins, hydrants and road regrading. It will conclude with the pouring of concrete and finally paving.

Work will move west along Beaufort Avenue, beginning at Nordin Street moving towards Church Street. Each block has different elements that have been identified for upgrades. Work will extend onto beyond Beaufort Avenue and onto the cross streets of Nordin Street, Port Augusta Street, Wilcox Street and Church Street. Downtown area plans are available on the Town of Comox website.

What you need to know:

  • Sidewalks: Where sidewalks are being removed, temporary surfacing will be added and maintained until it is finished with concrete.
  • Driveways: If a driveway will be impacted, individual access plans will be communicated to the property by Wacor, the contractor.
  • Parking: No street parking in the work zone. Work will progress on a block-by-block basis. Please ensure that you watch for No Parking signs, as they often delineate the start of a work zone.

Our goal is to provide you with as much access to you home or business as possible; however, unforeseen issues may arise which require changes to our plans. We apologize if our timelines shift or plans change due to winter weather. Safety of residents and workers is our number one priority. If there are circumstances that require us to change our plans due to safety concerns, we will communicate them as quickly as possible.
