Construction on the installation of the sewer forcemain will begin along Brent Road August 6, 2024.

Brent Road will be fully closed to vehicle traffic, Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 7 pm.

Preconstruction work will be starting July 31, 2024. The pipe work is expected to be completed by August 29.

Traffic, including Brent Road residents and access to the Comox Valley Water Pollution Control Centre, will be detoured along Curtis Road, through the fire gate and along the maintenance access road.

There will be a temporary increase in traffic on Lazo Road (Torrence Road to Gage Road), Balmoral Road, Moreland Road (Balmoral Road to Curtis Road) and Curtis Road. Sewage hauling trucks, delivery trucks and local resident traffic will be using the approved detour route. Traffic control personnel will be positioned on Curtis Road for safety.

Please allow extra time for commuting, follow posted speed limits and obey all the directions of the traffic control personnel.

Waste Collection Instructions for Brent Road Residents:

Clear Labeling: To facilitate smooth handling and return of bins, please ensure that all bins are clearly labeled with your home address.

Placement of Waste Bins: During periods when roads are fully closed, residents are required to place their bins at the end of their driveway 7:00 am on scheduled pickup days.

Collection by Crews: Contractor crews will retrieve the bins and bring them to a central location outside the road closure area (Lazo Rd.) for collection by the waste management trucks.

Return of Bins: Following collection, bins will be returned to their respective driveways by the end of the day.

Pedestrian access to residences on Brent Road will be maintained. Emergency vehicle access permitted at all times.

Maple Reinders and Knappett Industries will be communicating directly with residents on Brent Road regarding driveway access.
