We are writing on behalf of the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) to inform you about some upcoming construction for the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project.

Archaeological Pre-Digging and Temporary Road Construction
Due to construction on Comox Road beginning in March 2025, a temporary road will be constructed in the right-of-way in front of 2600 Comox Road (MAP 1). Work is estimated to begin on Tuesday February 18, 2025. Work hours are from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. At this time, the west entrance of Farmview Road will be closed to all traffic. All properties that have their only property access from Farmview Road will be able to access from the east end of Farmview Road.

This temporary road is required to create space for two-lanes of traffic while archaeological pre-digging is conducted in Comox Road (MAP 2). Traffic control personnel will be station to help facilitate traffic flow, which will be slower through the construction zone. Please allow some extra time when commuting.

Construction of Sewer Forcemain on West End of Farmview Road
The estimated start date for work at the west end of Farmview Road is February 26. At this time, the west end of Farmview Road will be closed to vehicle access and parking (MAP 3). Work hours, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.

On March 10 one-way traffic on Comox Road will begin and the sewer pipe construction will move from Farmview Road into Comox Road. Crossing Comox Road is estimated to take two days, March 10 – 12. Day work will be prioritized however, scheduled night work will be required for some scope, 8:00 pm – 6:00 am (MAP 4). Construction on the sewer forcemain will then continue on Comox Road, westbound, towards the 17th Street bridge.

Important Dates

• February 18: Farmview Road closed at west entrance.
• February 18: Start of construction on temporary Comox Road widening at the west end of Farmview Road.
• February 26: Estimated construction start date for sewer forcemain on the west portion of Farmview Road.
• March 10: Start of one-way traffic on Comox Road. The west end of Farmview Road will be blocked until this work is complete in May.

Work Days/Hours:

• February 18 – March 9: Monday-Saturday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
• March 10 – May: Monday – Saturday, daytime 6:00 am – 8:00 pm, nighttime 8:00 pm – 6:00 am

Important Information

• Emergency Services: Access is guaranteed.
• Noise and Vibration: During construction there will be times when you will hear loud continuous noises. You may also feel vibrations from digging as well as compacting. This can be unsettling. The vibrations are not of a magnitude to damage property.
• Please Plan for Extra Time: The construction crew do their best to get residents in and out of the construction zone as quickly as possible; however, there will be times when there is a delay.

Our goal is to provide you with as much access to your home as possible; however, unforeseen issues may arise that require changes to our plans. We apologize if timelines shift or plans change. Safety of residents and workers is our number one priority. If there are circumstances which require us to change our plans due to safety concerns, we will communicate them as quickly as possible.
