The Town of Comox needs your input on an internet broadband survey

22 February 2024

The Town of Comox is seeking citizen and community business input to identify current gaps and challenges associated with internet broadband service subscriptions in our municipality. Response to this survey will assist the Town with the development of a comprehensive community broadband strategy.

With the rise of today’s demand for telecommuting, virtual healthcare access, and the myriad of social and economic benefits associated with municipal-wide connectivity, an effective broadband strategy is an essential foundation for fibre-ready communities to meet this challenge.

“We are making a commitment in the ‘digital future’ for the Town of Comox,” said Jordan Wall, Chief Administrative Officer, Town of Comox. “This broadband survey will assist the Town in identifying challenges with current broadband delivery in our community.”

“Today, affordable access to the digital world is critical for the future of every community,” said Mr. Wall. “We need to ensure digital opportunities are available for our healthcare, economy, educational institutions, public safety, vulnerable sector support and sustainability.”

The Town of Comox will move forward with a significant expansion of this broadband network capacity in coordination with the planned Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project.
