Next Steps for Wastewater Planning

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has been working on a long-term plan for the Comox Valley Sewer System with extensive technical evaluation and public consultation since 2018. We are now ready to begin Stage 3 of the Comox Valley Sewer Service Liquid Waste Management Plan.

The sewer service collects, moves and treats wastewater from Courtenay, Comox and the K’ómoks First Nation, and the Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) ensures valuable wastewater resources will operate safely for decades to come. In Stages 1 and 2 of the plan, the preferred level of treatment was selected for the wastewater treatment facility and a preferred option for the Sewer Conveyance Project was determined. Urgent improvements to the conveyance pipe were completed in 2025 separately from the LWMP process.

Follow along to learn more about costs, timing, and delivery of the preferred treatment option.
